Our Story
ScormBench didn’t begin as a product idea.
It began as a failure no one could explain.
A federal client launched a large-scale SCORM-based training program—thousands of learners moving through a mission-critical course. Almost immediately, users began reporting crashes, stalled progress, and lost completion data.
The issue was severe.
And no one could replicate it.
The LMS vendor reviewed their logs and found nothing conclusive.
The content provider—Adobe—reviewed the SCORM package and reported no issues.
Every party involved was limited to testing with a handful of users at a time.
At one point, the proposed “load test” consisted of five people sitting in a room, manually clicking through a forty-hour course together.
That was the moment it became clear: the problem wasn’t just the course.
The problem was how SCORM was being tested.
Where Dark Yeti Stepped In
Our team at Dark Yeti, a group of senior technical and leadership consultants specializing in federal and enterprise, was brought in to dig deeper.
Instead of guessing, we recreated real-world conditions.
By simulating thousands of concurrent learners and instrumenting the SCORM runtime itself, we identified the root cause: a loop in the course’s internal logic that only surfaced under scale. Once concurrency reached roughly 3,000 simultaneous users, the system began to fail—progress stalled, sessions crashed, and reporting broke down.
Once the issue was isolated, the content developer corrected the code.
The crashes stopped.
Learner progress stabilized.
Support tickets disappeared.
The problem wasn’t hypothetical. It was real, measurable, and completely preventable.
That experience sparked a realization:
If this could happen during a high-stakes federal rollout—with experienced vendors, mature platforms, and expert teams—it could happen anywhere.
And there was no scalable, reliable way to catch it before launch.
So we built one.
ScormBench is the product born from that work.
Why ScormBench Exists
At ScormBench, we believe every piece of eLearning content should be trusted, tested, and performance-optimized before it ever reaches learners.
Too many teams deploy SCORM packages only to discover problems after rollout—broken progress tracking, slow launches under load, or inconsistent behavior that only appears at scale. These issues are frustrating, costly, and damaging to learner trust.
They are also preventable.
ScormBench exists to make large-scale SCORM testing practical, repeatable, and accessible for federal, enterprise, and platform teams alike.
Our Mission
To make SCORM testing simple, scalable, and accessible—so great content always delivers as intended.
We empower instructional designers, LMS administrators, course creators, and platform vendors with tools that reduce risk, save time, and raise the technical quality bar across the industry.
What We Do
ScormBench enables teams to validate SCORM content before it goes live.
Teams can upload a SCORM package and begin testing within minutes. Courses can be exercised under simulated concurrent-user load to identify bottlenecks, failures, or unexpected behavior that would never appear during single-user testing.
Detailed diagnostics provide visibility into SCORM API calls, launch and resume behavior, scoring logic, and reporting integrity—so issues are identified early, not after learners are impacted.
Certification and compliance validation for defined concurrency thresholds is in active development, alongside enterprise-grade API integrations that allow ScormBench to plug directly into LMS and content production workflows.
